Re: Would like hauling advice

Donna, I would go for the larger camper. Does it have a shower and toilet?
How long do you camp for? To me more is better.
Your rig can certainly haul the weight of the trailer loaded and the larger
camper. We purchased a 10 ft camper to go on our 98 3/4 ton Dodge Ram Diesel.
You wouldn't even know anything was on the truck! And make sure that you
don't just put an extended hitch on it. You are not going to like this but,
extended hitches cannot withstand the constant weight. you might be able to
get away with it for a while, but there have been many deaths due to
extended hitches that have buckled and snapped leaving the rig either out of
control or, your livestock crashing in their trailer. We went to a welding
shop and had a huge double hitch made for our truck. It cost about $800. but
our horses and our lives are worth that much. hope this helps you.

too. What is your thinking on a 9.5 foot camper weighing 2200 lb vs an 8.5
foot weighing 1600 lb as far as wear and tear and safety hauling long
distances and in mountains. Trailor is 14 foot alum. 2 horse. Truck is 99
ford 1 ton power stroke deisel 7.3 litre 4x4. Any advice would be
appreciated. Larger camper is a really good deal we hate to pass up but
always had 8ft before and this would require hitch extention.
