Re: RC: What's your pain killer of choice?

Lif...

Whew....sounds interesting....see me a sample if it turns out good?

I use only Ibuprofen (otherwise known as Endurance Rider Candy)....and
Kettle 1 Vodka and Tonic. (at the finish, of course) <grin>

Of interest...

Ibuprofen is the ingredient in Advil.

Ketoprofen is the ingredient in Aleve. To the best of my knowledge,
there is no generic product with Ketoprofen.

Both Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen are "muscle relaxers". Both work well.
Ketoprofen (Aleve) is stronger and lasts longer, with a smaller
dosage....but more expensive. For me, Ibuprofen works just fine. My
doctor recommends that you not take them DURING the ride....however, I
have been know to violate that on the longer rides....just go until I
feel the stiffness is affecting my "staying balanced" and making it
harder on my horse.

Aspirin is normally associated with "thining" blood. (I find it hard to
believe that any of these medications would cause you to be more likely
to bleed to death after an injury) In fact, I take one every day along
with my multi-vitimin and Vitamin E. (Doctor recommendation for
prevention of strokes and heart attacks) I know of no side affects
associated with Ibuprofen or Ketoprofen....although I'm sure some
people, as with all medication, may have some type of undesirable
reaction.
