Re: Horse Hauling Lay Overs

I stay at rests stops......... sometimes the staff are nice and even help
with water hauling or just come to 'see the horse'. Have had people bring
their kids over who have never seen a horse. I can do 1100 miles in about
20 hrs. Always keep hay for them to eat. Used to be able to go straight
down I -5. Have not hauled down there but have gone from WA to TX and TX to
NC, etc.. Check to see if you need a paper from the livestock officer to get
in and out of those places. Have seen very few livestock check.. only ones
going into WA from OR and going from LA to TX. Have a good trip. There is
a website that lists state requirements. For yrs tho, I just pull over with
the trucks and go to the pet area.. never had any problems.. There is book
that lists horse farms that take in overnighters... Mary Ann
