Geld him early!  With some colts it really is necessary and you can usually 
see a difference withing a week or two.  Contrary to what some people seem to 
think,  it doesn't hurt their development at all - helps in fact because you 
are not having to get after them as much and they actually grow up bigger.  I 
had many colts and have gelded anywhere from 3 mos. to 3 years depending on 
behavior and need.
