venice terpentine

I use venice terpentine on the soles of my horses and I do believe they help to toughen the soles.  But it should not go on the frog or the heel bulbs or anyplace but the sole as far as I know.  A brush works great, when the weather is warm it is a great consistancy, but when it gets cold it gets very stiff and is very hard to brush on.  Louise
