RE: FEI

. Otherwise, they become ineligible for
a particular FEI ride or, maybe, have to pay the ride fees for those two
rides that they did not do, as was the case in Egypt recently if I undersood
Maryanne correctly.

THAT WAS A PECULIARITY OF THE LOCAL ORGANISATION AT THIS PARTICULAR
RIDE...NOT AN FEI THING. IN FACT, CAROL BUNTING OF THE FEI WASN'T HAPPY TO
HEAR THAT ALL THE RIDERS AT THE 100 KM HAD NOT QUALIFIED.

The riders do not get FEI credit for any AERC only rides, and that's why
they
want more of them (FEI) in the states. Because of the FEI guidelines. And
I'm not talking about the World Cup or Pan AM level rides only. Some of the
UAE rides require a certain amount of prior FEI riding to be eligible for
entry.

***Yes, Howard. Strange as it may seem <G>, you have a clue here. The FEI
goal is to have endurance as an Olympic sport the same as 3 Day Event, Show
Jumping and Dressage. You have to do so many FEI rides at a certain level to
progress to another level, just like in those disciplines. That's a good
reason to have FEI rides available to those who want to work on that sort of
endurance. Then there are those, and I would include myself, who for
whatever reason, would prefer to accumulate miles on a couple of not so
speedy but very sure horses. For these people, maybe AERC rides are more
appropriate. There's a lot of room here, folks.
