Barbara, you are indeed right, Dick Barsaleau did own a thoroughbred mare named Liftaway, that he road on Tevis.  He came in 33rd place in 1973 and 9th place in 1974.  Dean and Doris may have also had a Liftaway, but it was not the same horse.
