Not sure if it's common, but I've heard of more than one of our horses
they have bought, but leave in the USA in training.  Sort of a "have your
cake and eat it too" for the sellers.  So, they may not need to ship one
over to have a horse of their own to ride, and these horses don't have to
adapt to the climate, etc. when they get here.
