I'll try to keep this story short, my parents owned a
fishing resort in B.C. Canada for some 30 odd years, I grew
up there ever spring/summer/fall from age of 2 to 20, no
hot water in cabins, no phone, no T.V., home cooked meals
served like a big family at a huge picnic table, my mom did
most of the cooking (I did the baking), sack lunches. Lots
of RICH customers from some very exotic places. Japan,
Austria, Germany, Switzerland, we had doctors, pilots, etc.
Some spoke english, some barely at all. Anyway, point here
is, as long as the experience and companionship is good,
people will have a good time. My parents turned that
business from a $4000 per year (gross income here folks!)
into a $60,000 per year income. All from word of mouth and
repeat business. We read Steph's report on the shindig
thrown by the sheiks. Apparently they love to do stuff like
that, but I'd be willing to bet they'd love a BBQ like Gail
Williams puts on at Renegade Rendevous every year. Salmon,
ribs, corn on the cob and oysters on the half shell!
Sitting in lawn chairs talking horses with BBQ sauce on
your chin! It's kind of silly to think we have to do as
much as them or try to outdo them, I bet they don't expect
it at all. That goes for the riders from France, Germany
and Australia too!

There is enough problems with QH people not liking arab
people, dressage riders not getting along with the halter
people, etc. etc. Let's not be so divided, let's try to
find a solution where everyone can win and quit arguing
over the supposed alterior motives of people we really know
nothing about.

Here's a fun fact for you all: Did you know that the U.S.
horse industry is a $112 billion dollar per year industry
and the TB racing is only about 1/3 of that? But we are all
so divided that our trails are disappearing, now there is
the new insurance thread, etc. If we were to unite, we'd be
an awesome force to be dealt with!

OK, so it wasn't all that short, I tend to be a bit long-winded!
