I have traveled a bit and still say this is the best country to live in no

still the best country in the world.

This exchange of opinions reminds me of a quotation from a friend of ours
who was, at the time, talking of the institution of marriage.  He said, "It
beats Hell out of whatever else there is."  I might say the same for this
country, despite all its faults.  I don't immediately notice a mass exodus
of our population to some other country, although I know a man with whom I
took a class in Russian who actually went there and stayed (to Siberia, no
less).  I HAVE noticed a mass influx of people from other countries who are
seeking freedom to think their own thoughts, to work as hard as they want
so they can buy what they need for their families, and so they can actually
have a decent home to call their own. One of the marvellous things about
this country is that we can all e-mail complaints about it, our leaders,
our government, our research, our sport, whatever, and we don't have to
worry about some men in black uniforms arriving in the middle of the night
to remove us from our homes .... never to be seen again.  Personally, I
prefer to think of all the things that are good about this country, rather
than the things that we consider bad or inadequate.  Negative thinking is
neither productive, nor good for our mental health.  If it's broke, do
something productive to fix it, don't just gripe!
