  Years ago I was stationed at Ft. Devens MA and lived
in Ayers, MA. Like I said in my orginal post we did a
min. trace clip in the early fall and never blanketed
our horses. Horses can withstand very cold temps as
long as they are healthy and their skin dosn't stay
wet. We provided a run in shed so they could get out
the weather if they wanted. Never had a sick horse due
to "catching a chill". Later when we had "show horses"
that were blanketed to keep coats short, we ran into
more health problems...lol..(this was before
breathable blankets had hit the market)
