versitility

I think as far as team penning, dressage, etc., these are all just
building blocks, if done correctly, to get a more rounded horse. And I
just LOVE the exceptions when one breed usually dominates the event and
then another breed just stands out. Last summer my husband and son, age
12, did some team penning. Now, my husband has a Fox Trotter and my son
has a Tennessee Walker (yes, folks, I have an Arab, don't panic).
Anyhow, this walker is 16 hands plus, very long-legged and at a walk is
plog, plog - my son being small at 90 pounds. Big, long face, actually
not too pretty (the horse that is)! I saw all quarter horses, one or
two Arabs that day. Anyhow, the old Walker just seemed to "brighten up"
around the cows and wanted her nose right in them and they as a team were
the hit of the day. Penned the calves in 13 seconds (if ya don't know
team penning, that's excellent). They both came home higher than kites
and were talking about it for a week. No info on endurance so don't
throw eggs at me, just thought it was a cute horsey story. Or maybe you
would have had to be there. :) Terri O. P.S. I think my Arab could
do that. She is brave and wants in on all the action. I might have to
think about that........
