GLDRA

Good day my friends....would not want to disappoint all my GLDRA (Great
Lakes Distance Riding Association) friends as they are so used to seeing my
posts here, they might not think I made it home safely last night.
Yesterday was our annual meeting and Awards Banquet (my 2nd one ever) and I
am overwhelmed with the new endurance friends we have made!! We visited
with people who were reminiscing about 2 years ago when we first started
(all I remember is having a brain so jam packed, I was lucky to remember MY
name and my horse's name!)....it was a fun filled day as we adopted new
bylaws, elected some new officers, cussed and discussed things but I was
delighted to see new rides added to our schedule and was I bowled over to
see the ride schedule go from 4 25 mile LD rides in 1999 to 17 in 2000!!!
7 of those are part of the Shore to Shore ride but all are considered
separate rides as well. RIDE MANAGERS LISTEN!! And thank you rider reps
for being our voice at board meetings...I plan to be doing mostly 50s and
maybe ONE 100 miler next year but we have a couple of new horses we would
like to start (I know, someone will write me and tell me a slow 50 is
better than doing 25 LD...in this case, the rider needs to start as well at
this level and work his way up...I have to keep my farrier husband sound if
I am to be able to afford to ride!! haha)...so, anyway, I was just pleased
to see our group in Michigan is growing and expanding and I heard that
Endurance News is supposed to be coming out to cover the Shore to Shore
this year!! Yee ha! I KNEW there was a good reason I wanted to go this
year!! :) So...let's hear it for ride managers and new rides and I hope
to see some of you guys out here this year....we have some great trails,
great ride management and great people. I'm hooked forever...just try to
pry me away!! BTW, my daughter, Jennifer, brought home a plaque for 1st
overall 25 LD and 5th competitive junior for 1999... we are so excited
about the year coming up!!! Hope to see ya on the trail! :)
