Re: helmets

Hi Renee

As I'm English and the Brits are obsessed with "safety" I grew up with a
helmet on my hat. To the extent that now riding without one feels like I've
got no clothes on. I feel that I've only got one head and I'd like to
preserve it, plus I would hate to be a burden to my family and society which
I would be if I ended up as a vegetable due to a fall.

I don't go quite to extent of some people who won't lead out a stallion to
cover a mare without a hat, or who won't lunge a horse with a hat (perhaps I
should) but when I climb on board I have my helmet on ALWAYS.

As someone mentioned, its like putting your seat-belt on which has become
second nature. Few people winge now about freedon of choice when it comes
to seat-belts because now its habitual. Its the same with helmets.
