Thanks for the info, JS.  I'm really sorry to hear of a horse dying in any
circumstance, even sadder to see a good horse go.  It would be a real shame
for people to believe stupid rumors blaming any one thing for the colic, and
I hate seeing the gossip mills get started by tiny minds to start up a scare
that "you shouldn't feed beet pulp because such-and-such ate it and died."
It doesn't help the horse that colicked, and only harms everyone else.

Congratulations on your top twenty, good for you.
