learning to tie

All right, all you wise people. I need to teach a foal to tie. Always
before, I had a barn with a rope suspended from a rafter by an innertube.
It was safe and very handy for teaching foals to tie, but when I left
Missouri for Arizona, I left my nice barn setup behind.

I can't search the archives (rebellious computer) but I remember a thread
on this subject recently. The one that sticks out in my mind had to do
with a lawn chair and a good book. Since it's supposed to hit a frosty
75 F this weekend, I thought it would be a good time to start those tying
lessons. I can't remember what she said she tied to, though! I'm inclined
for several reasons to tie to a post but have hitching rails available.

Thanks,

Paula (wearing SPF 30)
Lilly (desert steed of the west)
Coolie (patient desert mama of the west)
