Re: 5 Reasons Why I Can't Go To Reno

I lived in Reno for many years and still travel back frequently. My sister
still lives there.

For those of you who are protesting the cost of travelling to Reno because
it is too far, how many have actually checked out the available travel
packages? One of the advantages of being a tourist/gambling destination is
that the hotel/casinos often subsidize airfare from all over the place to
get people into town to spend their money. My parents flew from Seattle
four years ago for my wedding, spent five nights (and not a dime in the
casino) at the Sands and the entire thing cost them $260. You can usually
get legs out of the major hubs (Denver, DFW, Minneapolis) for well under
$200 round-trip.

I would suggest that anyone who wants to go to the convention, check out
what casino junkets are available. Just because the casino expects you to
gamble doesn't mean you have to. Reno is typically one of the cheapest
cities to fly to.

All I'm saying is to check it out fully before writing it off. I think many
of you will be surprised how inexpensive it is.
