Re: vet check lines

I know I'm a little late getting in on this one (just got back from a
vacation!), but I feel the need to add my 2 cents! I agree completely with
letting someone go ahead "if the situation warrants it", and I would expect
to be allowed to go ahead if in the same situation. But there are only a
couple of situations that I can think of that would "warrant it", and they
are: 1. If I am on a 1/2 hour, (or whatever) hold, and along comes riders
who have a "stop and go" check, I will offer (or be told!), to let them go
ahead. This seems only fair as my ride time has stopped running for the
moment, while their's continues to tick on. This doesn't apply to LD in my
opinion, though. Not because the LDer's are less important, but because
their ride time is less important, (Please don't jump on me for saying
that. I've heard all the arguments a multitude of times, and that is my
opinion.). An LD should only be used as a fun, conditioning ride -- not
"raced" through, so another few minutes here and there shouldn't really
matter to them. And 2. If there are people waiting for the final
completion or BC check, riders who are still riding should be allowed to go
ahead. This seems like common sense to me, though. As for 100's having
priority over 50's, or 50's over 25's, I don't think it should be
happening, as a rule (if all have some sort of hold time at the vet check).
However, just as was already said, it doesn't hurt to be considerate of
those who are going to be on the trail a lot longer.
