Proposed re-zoning of Santa Monica Mountains...

YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANY AND ALL HORSE PEOPLE YOU
KNOW IN THE LOS ANGELES/CALIFORNIA AREA.

To all Ride Campers living in the Los Angeles area, the meeting to discuss
possible re-zoning of the west end of the Santa Monica Mountains,
particularly as it impacts the Malibu Creek State Park and the land
surrounding it, has been postponed until February 14. Especially if you
reside, ride, pay taxes and/or keep horses in Los Angeles County, you are
encouraged to attend this meeting, write or send faxes in support of keeping
the existing zoning (RR) and OPPOSING the creation and/or institution of a
new zoning category (RRL) in the Santa Monica Mountains. The creation of
this new zoning would place such restrictions on horse keeping acreage that
it would virtually shut down most commercial horse establishments in that
area and make it impossible for all but the very wealthy to keep livestock
on their property.

For further information on this, please contact Ruth Gerson at
Ruthgerson@aol.com. She and Karen Zontelli (Boyd's wife) are watching this
very closely and are attempting to get an organized and effective opposition
going among the horse community. Please lend them your support.

Send letters/faxes to: Renee Campbell, Chair
				  Regional Planning Commission
				  Los Angeles County
				  320 W. Temple St.
				  Los Angeles, CA 90012
				  (213) 626-0434 FAX LINE

If you think this isn't a pertinent issue to you consider this:
Whatever zoning changes can be achieved in one area, can be achieved in all
areas... Act now and prevent arbitrary and unsubstantiated de-ruralization.
