bareback pads

Does anyone make bareback pads with an english or western rigging instead of 
those stupid nylon web "girths" that you can't tighten up? Are any contoured 
to give the withers some room? I just am not in a position to buy a saddle 
now and would like a decent bareback pad. Anybody out there nuts/poor enough 
to compete bareback/with a bareback pad?
