Beet pulp with molasses is just fine, too. Pelleted is more compact to
store, but takes longer to soak up. Shredded is a little harder to scoop
out of a bag and takes more storage space, but soaks up almost right away.

You might consider some of the beet-pulp-based complete feeds, like Purina
Complete Advantage, Rely, and some others available in different parts of
the country. Those types don't need to be soaked at all, sometimes a good
management alternative depending on your situation.

Don't go overboard with the rice bran without paying attention to balancing
the calcium-phosphorus ratios. Equi-Jewel is the only one so far that I'm
aware of that has added calcium carbonate to balance the ratios for you.
Don't get talked into buying unstabilized rice bran, ever, it's absolutely
not worth the cheaper price.

Good luck with your mare. :-)
