Re: what to do with a runaway?

If the rider was okay, I'd ride after the horse - quietly - aiming to capture it eventually.  My experience is that once they get over the escape exhilaration they are inclined to want to stop and graze.. and buddy up - hopefully, with my horse.  No failures yet but horses are unpredictable.  I too always ride with a halter and lead rope.  I hope you find the missing horse and will keep us informed.  I can't imagine a more terrifying ordeal than to lose my horse.

Subject: RC: what to do with a runaway?

... A recently lost horse has given me a reason to ask this question.  FYI this horse has been lost 6 days and counting... If you are endurance riding in a remote area and an accident occurs where the rider becomes separated  from his/her horse... What would you do????
