Don't be intimidated Shannon!!!!!!!!! Go get Nancy Loving's book on
Endurance....and remember that people have been successfully participating
in this sport long before the discovery of all these fancy supplements,
feeds, saddles, conditioning programs etc. Start slowly, learn the basics,
but most important...tune into your horse...imagine him as an extension of
yourself...familiarize yourself with as many of his physiological parameters
as you can under many conditions. After a while you'll recognize what is
normal for him...and what is not...you will know him so well that even the
expression in his eye will become one of the factors letting you know how he
is doing...HAVE FUN....and make sure, to the very best of your ability, that
your horse is having fun too...!
