I got to ride Suzy Hayes' horse Kooter on the Big Horn 100 a few years
back---he is over 16 hands....as usual, I was all by myself the last 25
miles(going my usual SLOW pace) when I HAD to get off him to tear apart a
gate that someone had locked before I got there(I thought)...that is a whole
other story!!! Anyway---Kooter and I were out in this bumpless, stumpless,
rockless, country---and having already ridden 75 miles--getting on without
some kind of help was out of the question!  I ended up walking for two miles
before I found a clod of dirt tall enough to get me on.-Always wondered why
Suzy NEVER gets off  Kooter except at the vet checks ;o]
