RE: Calling All LD Riders

Since the net seems to be a bit slow these days and nothing controversial
has arisen, I challenge you to think seriously and ponder the following:

SHOULD LIMITED DISTANCE EVENTS BE RESTRICTED IN THE NUMBER OF CONSECUTIVE
DAYS OF COMPETITION

I offer the following rational for restricting the number of days of
consecutive competition:
1.	Limited Distance Rides are not Endurance Rides as defined in the AERC
Bylaws.
2.	Limited Distance Rides are defined as an athletic event in the AERC
Bylaws.
3.	The minimum age of 48 months for entry into Limited Distance Rides allows
for immature horses to be ridden.
4.	The intent of the Limited Distance Rides was to provide a platform for
the introduction of young horses into the atmosphere of endurance riding
while protecting the young horse form excessive stress both physical and
mental.
5.	Multi-day rides for these young horses will impose stress not
contemplated upon the introduction of the Limited Distance Program.
6.	The introduction of Limited Distance Multi-day Rides could result in the
perception that the AERC is sanctioning the abuse of young horses.
7.	If Multi-day Limited Day Rides are sanctioned, then the age requirement
should be raised to 60 months for entry into a multi-day event.

Donna, donna donna......<G> you mean for your benefit? They haven't done
an LD ride at a Vegas ride for a long time. So if they do put one on and
you go, you won't be allowed to whine, bitch, complain, or be
obnoxious. Can you do that?

Which brings up the question, should the AERC sanction multiday LD rides
and allow 4 year old horses to do them? I know your horse is older, but
I'm sure there is somebody somewhere that would want to try riding a
multiday 25 or 30 mile a day for a week on a young horse. Heck, we even
have riders riding 4 year old in 50's, don't we?

Don't get too excited though, Silver State is called a "Point to Point"
ride for a reason.

Is that "desolate" as in unfit for habitation or use?  Nice compliment :^}

Well, good luck to you. Sorry I didn't get any pictures of you on the
trail last weekend. How many more rides do you need anyhow -- there are
still quite a few rides left this year that also offer LD's, at least in
the W region.
