Favor Re: RC: Dead/Alive -TEVIS RESCUE Part 2

From Heidi Sowards:
Hi Bette, could you forward my reply to you onto ridecamp?
Forgot to put it in the CC. Thanks! Don't want to have to
write the whole darn thing again:)

Rick (boyfriend/firefighter) is on a TRT (Technical Rescue
Team) which consists of volunteers (paramedics &
firefighters from the surrounding area.) They drill once
per month, sometimes more, with repelling (sp?) down
cliffs, into rivers, more for people emergencies than
anything else. They are available year round, wear pagers
and are hardly ever needed, but when they are, it sure is
nice to know there are some folks out there like
themselves. I would think that most local (county/city)
firefighters have teams like this in their areas. Couldn't
Ride Managers have access to the person(s) in charge, just
to keep them informed of events being staged in their
areas? I would think if there were permits to be obtained
from National Forests, that that could notify the
authorities and rescue teams. I'm not necessarily saying
these teams should be standing by at all times, but it sure
would be nice to know that there could be someone with a
radio to get a message out to someone in the event
something does go drastically wrong. I think having events
holding riders responsible etc. is just fine, but accidents
do happen and no one wants a rider to die if it can be
avoided.
