RE: Re: Arabic Name Help

About 7 years ago I got into a discussion with one of the grooms as to who
was smarter, my mares or his 3 yr old son. The son had whacked his father
with a stick causing a cut and hadn't been scolded or told to be careful
because the groom said he was too young to understand it. Both mares were on
the other side of a paddock smoozing in the shade. I called Dorika and both
looked up, so I said "No, Nim. Just Dory come here." Dory came, got a kiss
and I sent her back to the shade where Nim was waiting. Then I called Nim
and told Dory to stay. Same story. Made my point that kids at that age could
understand explanations, because no way would Ali accept that his kid was
dumber than a horse...although you never know.

Oh geez. Both my Arab mare and her Anglo-Arab daughter know their names and
actually come when I call (sometimes--it depends on what they think I want
them for) Actually, the young mare will came running from across the
pasture
when I call her name about two-thirds of the time, even if she thinks I want
to ride her. Of course she's only 1/2 Arab....jeri
