Not hardly!  My farrier is the most important man in
my life!  He is a journeyman and not only has been
working on my horses for six years, they now all have
full heels that respond when pushed on with a thumb,
they have tough feet and wear bigger shoes than when
he started on them.  Two of my horses had tender feet
when he started and within six months that problem
went away.  

He has put shoes on for me the night before the
fastest 50 my gelding has ever done - and we had a
good ride and no problems after.

He knows how to trim the hoof so it hits the ground
balanced.  he doesn't shoe to look pretty but to fit
the horse, balance 'em, and make their way of going
easier.  Even on the occasion when their feet have
grown too long, their walls never pop over the shoes.

Now that's a farrier and I am scared he'll up and die
on me cause of his age.......Wish he would take on an
intern.....
