A lot depends on the horse. I used a DeSoto on the mare. She is big and
has a nice well proportioned back. I did have to get a second one when
she had about 800 miles since her back and wither had changed a great
deal.
On the Arab I ride currently, I tried everything and the only saddle
that really works for him (and it works marvelously) is the Reactor
Panel. Fits well and nice large surface area for weight bearing. So you
might want to look at them.
