Re: Trilby breaks 50K

At the awards meeting on the night after Trilby broke 50,000 miles, Dave
Nicholson mentioned his 11 year old daughter just reached 1000 miles after
one year of competition. You can see her picture standing next to Trilby at
the finish line celebration, just a little girl. Dave felt his daughter had
attended a lot of rides last year to reach 1000 miles. Then he said if she
kept up this pace she would match Trilby's record when she was 61 years old.
That is assuming no time out for chidren, or college or whatever life
brings. Dave put the accomplishment into some perspective.
Another humorous side note on the finish. Exclamation A wasn't sure he
should cross through the purple tape strung across the finish line. After
all it looks like a fence that they are taught to respect. But at Trilby's
gentle urging he pushed through it and it broke. But then it hung up in her
stirrup or saddle and began to flap in the breeze trailing behind and
following the horse. Clay (Exclamation A) started to move out while looking
back with a wide eye at this thing chasing him. Those who saw what was
happening cringed as we could anticipate the wreck develop as Trilby had
started to dismount unaware of the flapping ribbon chasing her horse. But
all ended well as Trilby's hand steaded the horse, Brian grabbed the ribbon
and jerked it loose and Clay decided after 6000+ miles it wasn't worth the
effort.
Congratulations are certainly in order not only for the awesome effort of
50,000 miles but for doing it on so few horses that look so good.

Jim
