Dogs, kids, and horses at rides

debbie zanot darkcat5@yahoo.com
First of all Teddy thanks for the hilarious pics of "Gene"
my new horse..<LOL>
Our ride the Elk Valley Ride (NE) coming right up on the 8-9
has always welcomed dogs and kids and of course horses.
I have faith in the intelligence of all three species.
Horses who if given a chance (not suprize attacked) can cope
with humans in the woods on bikes, Humans that are
responsible enough to keep their young children and dogs
under control for the safety of everyone, but there is
always times when things happen and if we get so nit-
pickey and whiney about incidents that happen well then
best go sit in front of TV and vegetate.
I feel this way: During the ride kids and dogs should
be supervized closely. That IS NOT Ride Management's
responsibility. It rests on the owners of dogs, kids, horses.
Life is full of risks and potential hazards and if
you can't take your kids or dogs to a ride why bother going
matter of fact why should we put on rides if we have to
have a liability waiver for common sense issues.
R.M.'s have enough to do without that and if I may add
it is more work than most people are willing to
do year after year and most R.M.'s hold rides as
their personal contribution to the sport. If this
sport gets to be more trouble than fun, then it is time
to invent a new one.
