I haven't noticed that our fish keep the stock tank clean, but they do keep 
it free from bugs and mosquito larvae.  I bought three feeder goldfish and 
put them in one of the smaller oval stock tanks and the three are FAT.  I 
keep looking for a place to buy an algae eater, but so far have been 
successful.  Of course, when two small children are putting dirt and gravel 
and tiny Barney figurines into the tank to try to create a "scene" it's 
impossible to have a really clean tank.  My colt has been having a great time 
trying to reach to the bottom of the tank to get that purple thing down there.
