Re: RC: Russian Arabs

Yes, Cheryl
It is VERY true! I look at my Russian breds as anywhere between 1-2
years younger than they actually are until they reach 7. My friend,
well-known Los Alamitos (now in FLA) trainer and breeder of Russians
stopped nominating her offspring for Drinkers of the Wind and Daughters
of the Desert (3 year old futurities---BIG MONEY) because they were not
mature enough to run by three.
I sold Halyva Guy to Red Shield Equestrian 2 years ago; Hal was 5 years
old and an honest 15hh. Frank called me a few weeks ago and reported
that he is now 15.2 at 7 years old and Frank said he swears he is still
growing. I'll have to check back in a year.
Russians are not the only ones to mature late. Sheila Varian told me
that hers also mature quite late---achieving much growth between 5 and
7.
Good things are worth waiting for!<BG>

I've learned that life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer it
gets to the end, the faster it goes. Smell the roses!
