On that you got it right. Finishing or even pulling your horse before the
vet did was winning for us. All the exposure that the UAE brought us had
only one good effect that I can see. People who thought I was crazy to ride
for hours in the desert now see that it's a lot of fun. Otherwise, we are
going to be fighting off the money/power vultures for months now. I figure
that our best bet is to do a long series of REALLY BORING and financially
unrewarding local rides for a while til they all go away. The scary thing is
that Maktoum was quoted as saying he'll fund a ride like the last next year
too....but maybe we'll get lucky and he'll change his mind.
