downhill training

Well, I for one would like to know how one goes about training one's horse
to go downhill in a manner that is safe for both horse and rider. Please,
no mathematical formulas or physics lessons- it's late by the time I get
home and can read this, and my brain is half fried. I am new to endurance
and am conditioning a new horse (6 year old Arab) for LD later this year.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dede
