RE: RE: Posse Ride

Not to mention the fact that should a lawsuit develop, that statement would
be entered as evidence by the suing party, leaving the Board to testify "No
we really didn't mean the RM wasn't trained or safe".....

I think all Jeff and Darlene really need to hear from AERC is that if for
some reason a law suit results from this or any other similar type of
accident at an endurance ride, will AERC back RM's in court without making
the statement that the RM needed more training in safety. Most RM's are
also riders. They as riders don't want to deal with hazzards and poor
management. So despite all the hubbub that goes on during a ride, safety is
an issue that is at the top of their agenda. But the fact is no matter how
hard you try to plan for the expected and unexpected, life can usually come
up with a new wrinkle.
So to the board members at AERC, please don't make public statements in EN
that can give riders the impression that a RM is not well versed in safety.
It may be a better idea to contact the RM directly, or maybe send a letter
to all RM's addressing a possible problem and giving several suggestions or
solutions as how to avoid a similar accident in the future.
