RE: a simple solution

Heidi - does this mean that a veterinary research institute would have a
horse transported live for slaughter rather than be humanely euthanized
first?

Many institutions are inundated with donations, and are faced with the
same
hard choices of how to get rid of excess horses when the time comes. At
most
institutions, the dollars and cents approach is the main driving force,
and
for many, slaughter is a common option. If you "donate" to avoid
slaughter,
then you'd better check what happens when the horse is no longer of use
to
the institution.
