Just a minor correction here--but horses must be slaughtered for dog food.  
Rendering is a process on animals that are already dead, and as such, 
rendered carcasses cannot be used for food--human OR pet.  Some PRODUCTS of 
rendering may be used in feed, such as bone meal, etc.
