Re: Can you say tent? (Was: Slide in Camper or Gooseneck)

I've been tent camping for about 20+ years now (uh, oh, showing my age
now!) <BG> and after my son was about a year old and we watched him waddle
like a weebel on our first tent camping trip into the mountains of Colorado,
(he was so bundled up he could barely walk...it was pretty cold) we decided
to buy a bumper tow camper just for a couple of years during the
breastfeeding/diaper changing period. (I know, too much information...)
Anyway, we did just that and couldn't wait to get back to tent camping. We
love the outdoors and campers are like sitting in your living room.
Everyone has their idea of comfort and enjoyment. By the time we finished
setting up and leveling the camper each time we stopped for the night, and
then all the clean up involved in tearing it all down, we decided it was
easier just doing the tent thing. And we have a lot of gear for camping so
we don't exactly 'rough it'. We eat steak dinners with baked potatoes and
corn on the cob, etc. We do it right. Just don't really like the camper
thing. Besides, a lot of the places we wanted to camp there were no hookups
or whatever for the camper anyway. So the tent was frequently more
convenient and then you don't have to tow anything extra, all our gear fits
in a couple of trunks we got from the army surplus store. And we have a
nice warm canvas tent for the winter and a lightweight nylon one for the
summers.
