Me too (BG)! If my horse is aware of them (behind or in front, uphill or
down) I wave them on, saying 'its OK, he sees you'. I figure its polite to
them, and also gets him used to bikes coming by so that if I come across a
rude one that doesn't stop, he is used to them passing at a fairly decent
speed. (I also keep my own speed - if I'm trotting, I keep going at my same
speed.) I always speak to them as they pass, and almost all of them reply,
which helps also.
