hey Jerry & Susan.  i actually know the answer to this one.  real neat trick.
after the horse is one year old you measure from the elbow (front leg) to the
ergot (which is that calluslike lump located at the rear of the fetlock joint.
double that and that is the height your yearling will become when full grown.
this is based on the theory that the horse's legs grow first so they can run
away from predators almost from birth.  it really works.
