I just called the Oregon State veterinarian's office to see what they had to
say. The four states in this part of the country that currently offer 6-month
multi-state health certificates are Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana.
Nevada and California will ACCEPT six-month certificates, written from those
four states but do not OFFER those certificates to their residents.

I was reminded once again by the office, though, that the entire program is in
danger of being scrapped because it DOES require that the owner keep an
itinerary and send it in to the state at the end of the life of the
certificate. The compliance has been terrible to date, and the entire program
that many horsemen up here worked so hard to get in place may well go down the
tubes if compliance does not improve. It may well be that California and
Nevada are waiting to see what happens in our states before offering such a
program.

Heidi Smith, DVM
