Re: gaited arabs

When I was about 17yrs old, I broke a gaited arab filly. She could rack a
hole in the ground. Kind of fun to ride. She never did trot, just rack.
Cant remember her breeding. I have since seen a few that would gait. I was
taught by an old horse trainer/cowboy to never trot a colt for the first 30
days. Hurry them as fast as they could go, just dont let them trot. That
way if they had a tendency to gait, they would. Gaited horses were worth
more to the cowboys. "Can get there faster without wearing yourself out".
I have made quarter horses, appaloosas, arabs and even a t.b. all gait. My
own appy/arab mare will gait. My mule has a running walk to die for and
will singlefoot down hill. Cant stand a pokey walker. Dont understand
what people have against a smooth fast ride. Silly horseshow people.
2cents worth. gesa n clovis
