Hello,
I'm a reporter at The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. We are
ending a series about the century and I am working on some information
about travel at the turn of the century compared to today. I am having a
tough time finding out about horse travel. I would like to know how long it
would take a family to travel by horse and carriage or horse and wagon. But
I can't seem to find out the average speeds of horses, endurance, how many
times they'd need to stop, etc. I hit upon your Web site and thought I'd
e-mail you to see if you could provide me with any information or direct me
to a resource where I might find that information. Any help you could
provide me would be greatly appreciated!
