We were using interval training when I started running track in high school
during the early 60's.  It wasn't even new then.

A couple long distance bicycle racer (100 plus mile races) I have talked with
down in FL told me that carbo loading is basically not practiced down here at
that the longer distances.  Higher fat diets are now being used.  Since this is
not my sport I know very little details except what they told me. The converstion
came up when I was looking for food for myself for 100's (I tend not to eat well
when I ride).  I figured these guys would know the best stuff to carry. Stuff
like power bars make me ill.
