The Egyptian breeding programs have their roots in the horses of the nomadic
tribes of the Arabian Peninsula. Many fine horses went into programs in
different countries without going thru Egypt, some coming directly to the
Good Ol' USA. Egyptian breeders have bloodlines that meet specific
criteria, as do CMK, Polish, and other programs. While many Egyptian horses
are also Al Khamsa (meaning there is actual documentation or reasonable
assumption of documentation of their desert origins.), there are some Al
Khamsa horses that are not 'Egyptian'. Davenports and the straight desert
BLUE STARs are two examples. For the most part, the breeders that manage
these programs, breed to recreate the original Bedouin horse, in conjunction
with high performance ideals.
