RE: more on trail fund issue

Charles,
Why, if you have a good trails plan, not submit it to the AERC Trails
Committee as a model of correctness? That could save the AERC much time and
discussion. To criticize the current Committee and its functions with out a
solution is being part of the problem, not part of the answer.

My name is Charles Gabri aerc # 13741, Chairman of the Trails Committee,
Western States Trail Foundation (Tevis), and have been for some number
of years (though not always a member of AERC). I am very familiar with
trails, saving them, maintenance, etc. I am also very familiar with
business practices. I know in business no knowledgeable Board of
Directors would fund a program without an acceptable well documented
'Plan'. I am not opposed to the $5.00 charge to the 'Trails Fund', I am
opposed to the fact that there is 'no plan' for the money collected for
this fund. At least the minutes in the Endurance News did not include
one. The AERC office has had ample time to respond to the numerous
questions posted but as near as I can tell, has not. If you feel that
AERC should be held to the same high standards as any normal successful
business, I encourage you to write them with your questions on how they
intend to utilize these funds and postpone implementation of the $5.00
admission charge (donation) until the plan is published and accepted.
If you are just a member to see your name in print, do nothing. The
rest of you can resume your discussions about dogs, trucks and trailers.

Charles(Haywood) Gabri
