Keep in mind, readers, that even grain has SOME roughage in it, and the horse 
will produce a certain amount of VFA's from that.  So even on a grain diet, 
Tom is not going to achieve his ideal of an "all carb" diet.  As to the 
wisdom of feeding an aerobic athlete nothing but grain--I'll leave those of 
you with any experience with horses to decide how long you would keep him 
alive in competition.
