Re: '95 Dodge Trucks (Warning)
This makes me think about how important it might be to practice
emergency situations before they happen. How about taking the truck
and trailer (unloaded, of course) out one day on a known low-traffic
road to practice things like avoiding obstacles, engine problems and
the like? What other kinds of things might we do that we think are
helping (like shifting into neutral), but are in fact about to blow us
up?
When I took Driver's Ed in high school, one of the things we were
required to drive through was the instructor reaching over and turning
off the ignition key as we went down the interstate. It was scary,
but I learned that even if you turn the ignition all the way off, you
will still have steering and brakes, just not power steering or
brakes. If you turn the engine off, but leave the key in the halfway
on position (so your radio works - can't think of what that's called)
it will kill the engine, but you will still have power steering and
brakes.

(who thankfully wasn't involved in any of them)

Should have put it in neutral, that way the steering would still work and
the racing engine won't be pushing you faster!

You do that and the engine will blow in a matter of minutes.
