Ford Diesel
Diane Nelson safehavn@fast.net
We have a 1995 Ford F350, 1 ton dually, Powerstroke Diesel (aka,
the "big ass" diesel). We have been pulling an FRP GN which runs
12,000+ lbs loaded and that truck hardly knows it's there. One
thing about the Ford trucks - be prepared to have your brakes
adjusted once or twice a year. I burned out a set including the
rotors after barely 15,000 miles. The dealer will tell you
differently - listen to that "trusted mechanic" you have been
cultivating all these years and not the dealerships.
One thing about dealers - they will tell you "Sure Honey, this ole truck can pull anything!"
And yes, it probably *can*...in NJ, slow.
Our diesel gets 12-14 mpg hauling, *much* better without.
4WD wasn't available at the time so we went with aggressive tires
and pay close attention to where we park.
24,000+ miles on a truck I plan to keep forever.
